Manual control over the lock up clutch

Could you just directly control the actual solonoid (with a switch and a relee). Does anyone have knowledge about doing this on an 5hp24? What are the possible interactions that can go wrong? In addition to the obvious ones, as during gearshifts and stalling.

As an other option, is there any other way of making the transmission itself increase the lock-up activation time?
