First off, let me start out by saying this is not a "for sale" post. I'm just curious to see what you guys think my 2003 X5 4.6is is worth. It's a little different from the usual 4.6is' that I've seen for sale, mostly because of its mileage. It has 214k miles, a clean title, and is completely rust-free (I've been under it enough times to know). The paint is in great shape since this X5 mostly lived in Seattle, and the interior is in good shape as well. The tires are nearly new Continental Extremecontact DWS with a lot of tread left. I've done quite a lot of maintenance in my ownership: new timing chain guides, new valley pan gasket, new CCV + OSV, Vanos rebuild, new heater valve, replaced the transfer case, new transfer case chain, and new front driveshaft. The previous owner replaced a lot of the suspension components, the cooling system, and had the transmission professionally rebuilt. I have records for the stuff the previous owner did, and parts receipts for all the stuff I did (since I did all the repairs myself). The only things that are wrong with it right now are the cluster pixels, some bad pixels in the nav display, and the common X5 drive seat module issue. I plan on fixing most of these in the near future. There are no warnings and no check engine lights. What do you guys think it's worth? I've seen these go for around $10k but that's with way lower mileage. I've never seen a 4.6is for sale with the same mileage as mine, so I have nothing to really reference. KBB gives it a max value of around $5k. I'm not selling it any time soon, I just wanted to see how much it's worth vs. how much I have invested into it.

I'd say 6-7k. Lower mileage will always pull a premium, yours is decently clean and most big ticket items taken care of. Issue becomes we have niche cars, other than enthusiasts really narrow market.

Hi Danny,
A person that understands the brand and knows that these critical components on this high mileage specimen have been properly attended to might be willing to go to $8K PS: I can help you with the bad Nav display pixels. PM me..... ![]() Mike

Fair enough, $6k-$7k is right around what I was expecting to hear. I like it way too much to sell it though, so at least now I can tell my girlfriend that's it not really worth selling

Sell to an enthusiast if you were looking to do so. You'd get at least $2-3k more. If I were in the market for a 4.6, I'd pay a premium for yours if all of those other little niggles were fixed at the time of selling.
I'd probably go as high as $10,000... but I'm different than most. I bought my 4.8is sight unseen half the country away from it and paid a premium ($14500 @ 90k miles)... Call me stupid, it wouldn't be the first time. The Dinan goodies on it and the imola red made it irresistible for me. But man was the trip fun and the X has provided lots of loyal service and satisfaction.
