Quick ? re: Trunk stops
Pics seems to infer so, yet there is also seperate PN for it.... Can anyone confirm. Ordering a set... It's ahhhhmazing how much creaking one can get when a simple stopper fails on one sight. It's almost as bad as a wheel bearing bump ----- Disregard. Just ordered a set of stops sans no nut/bolt... The part that always get's rusty, regardless of being new or not, is the bolt holding the rubber bumper. Just due to how it's the water channel area and excessive moisture.. Yes it comes as an assembly, has a small rubber gasket on back, nut for the back that you secure on the inside of the X, and the star bolt in the rubber stopper - they are like $35 per side but so worth it -

This would be 2nd time I'm replacing them....should've ordered from FCP back in the day. I was more of a turner/tischer/bmwminiparts sorta guy, but those lifetime policys do count for something. Last couple of puchases have been primarily FCP.
The other one is fine, just a tad rusty on the torx bolt with grease I put in, but it keeps on washing out due to the water I suppose. Right one collapsed. |

^Yeah I had one that failed after a year, so I got a pair from FCP - another year in and both are ok to date -

OT, but I've noticed this depending on what particular part I've ordered....
As these models get older and Depreciate more, respectively, certain parts go up in price. A set of the side bumpers now run more that what I probably paid for at least 5-6 years ago |

That seem the trend for most parts, especially for discontinued vehicles.

And it will get even better as they get older and suddenly parts are NLA

Yeah prices go up. Every day is a gamble with the E30. I wish I bought a mtech 2 steering wheel years ago. One day it went from $350 new to $750. New OE black carpet, went from under $600 to now over 1k. Same with the dashboard. Floor mats went from $100 to $500 to NLA. You just have to wait for BMW Mobile Tradition to start reproducing certain parts for the prices to go back down.

OT, but while FCP has the lifetime policy, I've taken up in their pricematch twice sofar. Once on the wiper motor, right now on a ac compressor...
And I'm old skool, meaning, I generally just *buy* from the guy who has the best deal if I'm price shopping. I don't like to go back to Y to say price match X and I'll go with you instead. But their ~lifetime~ policy is too tempting and has swayed how I generally will approach the lowest price seller.... |
