How to keep rolling cargo floor off my head.

Ok, another from a one week X5 owner. Again, this is the 2002 4.6is. I can't find any kind of hook mechanism as shown in the manual to hold the cargo floor (rolling) up while accessing the spare tire/battery. I also don't see the spare tire removal strap thing, although that doesn't concern me.

How do you keep this heavy floor lifted while working back there? I have been trying various searches for hours and found nothing on this.

Thanks.

There should be a prop rod on the right side (US passenger side) that pulls away from a clip in the bottom of the rolling floor and then the tip of it rests in a little cup like place near the roller at the tailgate.

Cut a piece of 2x3 wood with the length you want to prop it up.

Thanks. I can't believe I didn't see that. I was looking everywhere, figured I'd just add some kind of hook or prop.

Something like that would have been my next move. That or add a hook. But semcoinc had the right answer.

I'm glad it was there for you. I was beginning to worry that yours had been a casualty of prior owner abuse.

That's what I thought. My manual shows an entirely different configuration. I was even looking all over down by the spare to see if there was some kind of rod to pull up. Never even looked up there. It's so obvious too. Sometimes I have to wonder...
