AC problem

2002 X5 4.4

AC blows cold air HOWEVER sometimes the air doesn't come out fast even if the speed is all the way to the max. It blows cold air as if I had the setting at one bar. Happens intermittently so there is no pattern to it. My wife is the main driver of the X5 so its hard for me to diagnose it since every time I drive it, it does not malfunction. BTW, the cabin filters under the hood have been replaced recently.

I have a 2001 740 E38 that had this problem years ago and after replacing the cabin filters under the hood and the ones under the center console, it never happened again. The X5 doesn't have filters under the center console, right?
