No sounds
I have searched and searched with no luck. I have just purchased a 4.8is with factory Nav (MKIV) and radio + CD changer in boot and tape behind Nav screen. No phone or TV - all stock. I have no sound from any devices, including the nav. The orange light comes on with the radio on/off button and I can display radio, CD, Nav etc. I have upgraded to V32 OS - No change Removed the radio in the boot for 30 minutes Removed the head unit for 30 minutes Disconnected the battery for 1 hour - No change Fitted new battery (old one was duff) Pulled all the fuses 7, etc in the glove box and boot - No change Pushed the RT button on the steering wheel - I have no phone module. I do get a warning beep from the parking sensors. Nothing from anything else. To me it is like we are stuck on mute? Any clues before I send it away for repair? |

Good day!
I might be under the impression your amp is toast... Or the fuse in the amp has blown... Is there one in the amp?? I can't remember... I would also replace all the fuses, just to know it has new ones... Save the old ones... Do you have INPA?? If you can't read the amp module, I would imagine the amp is off... Either no power or bad... Does the tone from the parking sensors come from the factory speakers? Front left and Right rear? Hmm... Okay... Any other thoughts? Cheers!!

William
Thank you. I pulled the radio module in the boot, in front of the battery and the 10amp fuse on this was good. There is an amp under the CD Changer on the left side, which looks awkward to get out - but I guess it will have to come out. I have no idea if it is fused, but it would make sense if this has failed. There is absolutely no water ingress in the boot. I know this as the previous owner must have lived in dust bowl. The boot was full of very dry dusty, soil. That would have had damp if there were any water ingress. There is also a guy here in the UK who repairs these (Carphonics) He tells me that Radio is a known failure and suggests that I send him both the radio and the amp (if unsure). I may well have to do this. But I was looking for a last hope before taking things apart and sending them off. |

Well I visited Carphonics today Carphonics - Car System Repairs and Upgrades
I met Bariss Sahan the owner whom I had talked through the issue with over the phone. It took him all of two minutes to demonstrate that my Radio was the failure, with zero output. It then took around 45 minutes for him to repair and upgrade the radio, adding a Bluetooth aux for telephone and music. I now have a fully working, updated sound system. What a nice honest gent he is. He charges for what he fixes and installs and not (as others do) for what they diagnose, then fix etc. There was no evidence of moisture but blown it was. If in doubt? Give Bariss a call at Carphonics. He will not disappoint. Bruce |
