The Secret to Great Leather Detailing?

What leather cleaning products are you guys using? The Lexol 2 step cleaner/conditioner seems to be working really well. Smells great and never had dye come off the seats.

Is there anything that penetrates the leather to soften more?

I've been using leatherique for the past 15 years or so and use it bi-annually on all vehicles (more on the 1995 Jag xjs-v12 due to age)

multiple applications can soften damage leather

I am using Leatherique now too. Does a fantastic job. I hated the smell of Lexol.

I started using Folex on my flip cars and now use it on everything from carpets to learher, to plastic and vynl.

I was actually working on an e36 yesterday using Lexol and Folex side by side. The Lexol doesn't stand a chance against the Folex. I spray a section down and let it soak for a min, then scrub it with a scrub brush. Then I wipe off the excess with a micro fiber.

I'm getting ready to try a repair kit soon on this e36, so I haven't hit it with a conditioner yet.

After that, I tried some Lexol cleaner on my Z. Did nothing noticeable, but those seats were not really dirty.

I went with Ammo NYC and it works amazing! Used the lather and conditioner and was extremely happy. I also used it on my wifes Jeep and she couldn't believe how clean and soft I got her seats. It's pricey but I feel worth it.

Question? Are you cleaning the leather in a BMW? is it not a PVC coating that BMW apply over the leather (on the seats) to protect them, that you are actually cleaning?

That being the case? would it not be a PVC cleaner that is required?

This is genuine question, as I use Gliptone but found when I used a General purpose cleaner on the seats (Creme) the dirt flew off. When I questioned this, I was told that I was cleaning plastic and NOT the leather which is under the plastic coating.

Gliptone on the steering wheel on my 4.8is worked really well. The wheel (you can see) is not coated. So Gliptone on a Microfibre towel pulled out a huge amount of gunk. Then treated with Gliptone conditioner. Smells nice and feels nice.

I am not sure about the PVC coating you mention. I have used gliptone products on BMW steering wheel and seats. Thorough vacuum first, followed by a warm towel wipe down, Gliptone cleaner with horse hair brush (seats) or tooth brush (steering wheel), wiped down (if second pass is necessary I do it here), Gliptone conditioner with applicator pad, wipe excess off

I currently am using Gliptone, but have used Leatherique in the past. I think that Leatherique looks better, and yields more dramatic results, but I don't like how hard it is to remove. I'm thinking a perfect process for me might involve a combination of Gliptone and Leatherique. I have noticed some worrying looking marks on both my e39 m5 and 4.6is steering wheels after thoroughly cleaning with Gliptone, it looks like it may be affecting the coating on the leather... Feels great though! I'll check out the AMMO stuff
