Battery Died/truck is locked and I have a broken driver door handle

My battery on my X5 died suddenly and my drivers door handle is broken as well. Aside from applying some voltage to the starter. Are there any other alternatives for getting voltage in the system? just enough to open the locks or hatch. I heard that you can apply a low voltage to the license plate light but I'm a little uneasy about doing that. Any suggestions?
