Rough cold starts and funky acceleration

Been having an ongoing issue with the X starting after sitting for a while, a while being 48 hours+. Basically what it will do is once I start it it will rev high up to 2-2.5k then immediately drop and almost die or die. It will only do it after sitting. After I drive it it won't have any issues starting and fires right up as long as it doesn't sit. The other thing is after starting it and driving it will surge on acceleration. It feels like it's not getting enough gas and then gets flooded and goes flying. Has not thrown any codes. Any one have any ideas? I was maybe thinking a new fuel filter might be needed.
