Self Leveling Suspension, No Error in DIS
I tried to calibrate my air suspension with DIS, and before the calibration, DIS does a test of the air suspension system. during this test, DIS said i had a leak. so i stopped the test. Now i have a SLS message, and when i run DIS to find the fault, DIS is saying no errors. I have tried to check the error with INPA, still says no error. I have changed all four regulator rods on the height sensors, i have checked the fuses, the pump worked fine before the test. i'm stumped ![]() Anyone ever had this issue, any suggestions on how i should proceed. thanks, DoN NB: I have a 03 X5 4.4, Dual axel air suspension with ride height button. |

Use Inpa to pump up each corner manually. I forgot exactly where it is. But I believe it's in the activate section of the 2 axle air suspension.

I considered manually raising the car, but i didn't because my car has a ride height button and i believe has 3 ride height settings. and i do not want to mess with the settings.
anyway, i tested the voltages on all the air suspension components and found this: can anyone tell me which off the front ride height sensor is faulty, i'm guessing if the front left:

^That's a guess as to how the system works. I have no experience (yet) repairing the air suspension system personally.

If you have EHC2 on an 03 model, you have a very early version of the system that became standard on the 4.8is. The control module is usually at the root of all problems. The older modules (until mid year 05) were all problematic. You should find the latest version of the module, part number ending 999 and swap it out. You can calibrate and play with sensors on the old units until you're blue in the face and it won't work right.

![]() They're not cheap and very scarce looking for a used one. Better to get new and program with ISTA-P.....or whichever software you're comfortable with. INPA/DIS/ISTA-D will display " Internal calibration error" when they fail. |

FIXED: So my car went into "BELT MODE", i simply had to deactive the belt mode n DIS. i'm good to go. Next time you get the SLS inactive and no LED light on the ride height control button, your car is in BELT Mode.
