M62 oil filter, how not to.....

I had my 2003 in the garage after a bit of spirited driving.
Hmmmm, let's remove and install a new oil filter!!!!!
Within a minute of shutting the engine off, I was unthreading the oil
filter cap.
BAD IDEA. The oil had not drained back into the block yet.
I made a huge mess. Considering I just finished detailing the area around
The ABS controller, I was a bit disappointed.
The oil drained down the just cleaned area onto the floor.
I did what I could to mop up the mess, but the oil went everywhere.
Frustrating!!!!

I always remove the oil cap on the engine, drain the oil from below, and then remove the oil filter. That seems to result in the least amount of mess from my experience with the M62tu.
