Brake pad recommedation for 4.8iS please
I have the 4.8iS brakes on my X5 (see signature!) they are absolutely amazing! they stop like boat anchors!!! driving over the rocky mountains, down the long switch back corners with downhill stretches upwards of 20 km at a time! with ZERO brake fade!!! I love these brakes, best upgrade I ever did!!! BUT, there is always a But!! they leave an unbelievable amount of dust on my rims!!! I am running the stock pads for the 4.8iS (textar I believe)
I am wondering if there are any of the 4.6iS/4.8iS brotherhood out there that could recommend a pad that doesn't dust as bad as the stockers!? thanx RF

Looking forward to a response to this. I've never owned a BMW that produces this much brake dust. My rims are black within days of a nice wash. There's a got to be a good compromise out there.

Stock pads on these bigger brakes are Jurids.
Just put on a set of Textars and they seem to be good with dust so far. They feel just like OE.

I'm in the same boat as you. Crazy amount of brake dust on fronts.
I was looking into this guy. CENTRIC 10609200 Posi-Quiet Extended Wear w/Shims and hardware from rockauto.com |

I put these on mine. They're awful. The fronts are a semi metallic as they don't make a ceramic in this brand for the fronts. The rears are a full ceramic and the dust reduction is better but in my opinion not that great.

There are approx 27 posts on this topic. Not much has changes since 2015-2017 when it was a hot topic.
Pads/Rotor recommendations: Source: www.RockAuto.com CENTRIC High Carbon Alloy Brake Disc Reasons: Fit, finish (come with a black center that does not wear off) and great wear Pads: POWER STOP Z17 Evolution Plus; Evolution Plus Pads w/ Hardware Reason: No dust, no noise, good modulation when warm, cold stopping power like OE, and easy on your rotors. If you push hard all day, then go with Cool Carbon as it will live in that environment. For cheap they even have under $10 pads. Now if you value your life you might want to think twice before buying, but then............. There are multiple options and happy users. Want cold bite? Stay with OE or OE like pads as that is what carbon dust does for you.

I just bought POWER STOP Z23. I called customer service and I don't believe they make the Z17 anymore. The Z23 is for DD. Got them off of Amazon. Can't wait to installed them. The current brake dust situation is intolerable - particularly after one drive following a nice wash.

Debating the same thing myself, front brakes are coming up.
I'm comparing Centric Stoptech slotted rotors for the fronts https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...=1434388&jsn=1 against the Sparta GP-1 rotors for similar money, https://www.ecstuning.com/b-sparta-e.../sr221.1b21kt/ Also deciding on pads. Looking on ECS there are a few more options than RockAuto, leaning towards the EBC pads, have used Redstuff in the past on cars, but no experience with Greenstuff, which is probably what would work best for the heavy e53. Stoptech also has their sport pads as well, so many options! On Rockauto, I'd prefer the Bosch Euroline, I've actually had terrible experiences with Powerstop in the past, on two cars with full sets of rotor/pad combos that warped within 10k miles. Maybe they've improved quality now but I'm a bit apprehensive about that brand now.
