I guess you mean the 5HP24. Unlike with the 6HP26 you don’t even need to take out the valve body assembly on the 5-speed to remove the solenoids. Remove the tin guard protecting the inhibitor switch (2-off 10mm AF screws), remove the sump (22-off Torx T27 screws), unbolt the retaining plate (9-off Torx T27 screws), disconnect the electrical connectors and the solenoids simply pull out. The three MV shift solenoids pull out very easily as they don’t have an O-ring, the five EDS pressure control solenoids do have an O-ring so they need a bit of pulling (maybe gently & carefully lever them with a screwdriver)

Great results fillmoho

Who was your source and what was the price for the solenoids?

This sounds like a great possible PM opportunity for those with high mileage 5-speed transmissions to insure proper functionality and longevity.

Thanks!

Mike
