I just recently purchased a 2004 X5 that has the back seats that recline. On the passenger side, I pushed the button near the rear hatch to make the seat lean forward just a bit. Worked. Then, I pressed it down to make the seat move back - instead it moved forward? No matter what I pressed, it moved forward more and now it's as far forward as it can go.
I just noticed that there are also buttons on the sides of the car near the seats, but for some reason, neither of those seems to work?
The button on the driver's side/hatch works fine.
So... I think I need to replace the button. Does anyone have a part # for that so that I know I'm getting the right part?
Also - not sure why the others aren't working? Is this a common thing? Is there anything I can do in the meantime to get the seat back down? It's not really usable in its current state.
UPDATE: I just realized (learned) that the power window switch up front also disables the switches for the rear seats. Turning that off allowed me to use that switch to put the seat back. Whew! But I still need to replace that broken switch in the hatch.
