ABS Light

Good Morning People hope all are well,
I could really do with some advise with my X5 abs dashlight,It seems when you first turn the key to ignition all the dash lights light up as normal and go out as normal but if you turn the ignition off & back on again the abs light doesnt light up !!!!
If you leave ignition off for a few minutes then try again the exact same thing happens again,i have checked connections and cleaned sensors etc but does anyone know why it would work first time but not second which would indicate to me that the sensor/wires are not at fault ???
Any Advise would be greatly appreciated

Good day!!

I would guess and say that the computer module for the ABS system doesn't shut down all the way during the brief interruption of power... Bigger capacitors or what have ya... So, it already passed it's boot up cycle... Kind of like how some clocks in the house will reset to 1200 and others will keep the time during some very short power outages...

Cheers!!!

Hi Guys
Just a quick update i phoned Bartley BMW specialists who were very helpful and assured me that this is usual and had the same problem as me with regards to MOT failure (which i forgot to mention earlier) unless you wait for at least 15 seconds or so the ABS light on the dash will NOT illuminate again on ignition
So all is ok & MOT centre have been notified so will pass retest this afternoon

**Just something to note to others as some MOT centres have failed BMWs for the same reason so i have been told**
