Style 334 E70 Wheels on E53?
Thinking about a different factory wheel on my X5 Sport. I currently have the factory style 132 (five spoke) 19'' wheels but don't care for them much.
Anyone have photos of the E70 style 334 19's on an E53? I believe it requires use of hub rings to mount, no big deal. Thanks! UPDATE: Ordered a 334 E70 wheel and mounted on the car, video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-hlHmvWn1I Last edited by richardb; 10-09-2017 at 03:32 PM. Reason: Updated |

not sure if that bottom pic is e53 or e70. I recently put E70 wheels on my wife's E53, bought a set of rings from amazon, they work perfectly well. Finding them was tricky, here's the name of the part i ordered: AccuWheel ACHR74-7256M Aluminum Wheel Hub Centric Rings (74.10mm OD to 72.56mm ID). I've seen 334 wheels out in the wild and they are nice.

Thanks for the reply Andrew! I have ordered the hub centric rings and also a single refinished style 334 wheel to test out. I'll post up the results of how it looks.
The 334 appears to come only in 19x9 so I'm considering tire options. My 4.4i Sport currently has 19x9 in the front and 19x10 in the rear with 255/50 front and 285/45 in the back staggered fitment. Does anyone know what a good tire setup would be for a set of 4 - 19x9 wheels? Maybe a 265/50/19 all around? Unless a 285/45/19 would fit a 9'' rim, keep the stock tire sizes. |

You'll really want four tires the same size - and likely the OEM size for the 19x9 rim - the 255/50-19.

Note that all 9" wide rims will compromise handling some and your suspension is designed to work best with staggered rims. Might want to look for staggered rims that you like.

Scroll down to the circumference calculator you can determine which tires will match rolling circumference. BMW did a great job figuring out which are directly compatible. 235/60-17 and 255/50-18 are within 1/5 of 1% rolling circumference. Amazing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

It looks like either a 255/50/19 or 265/50/19 square set up (same tire size on all four wheels) are the only options for this style wheel that will work with the E53.
As long as all four tires and wheels are the same diameter it will not affect the xDrive. It looks like 19'' square winter setups are common with E70 owners. The 265 in the back won't look as good as a 285, but can run 20mm spacers in the back for about $100 from ECS tuning to eliminate the fender gap. A set of four Blizzak DM-V1 is $650 and DM-V2 is $800 range in 265/50/19 |

You may want to just stick with the factory 255/50/19 instead of the slightly wider and taller 265/50/19 unless you want to change your spare as well. Your 17" spare (235/65/17) has the same diameter as the stock 255/50/19

Are you going to have a winter & summer set? My wife & I have nearly identical E53 and we have identical tires now but last winter she had 235s while I had 255s. Her car had incredibly better grip on the snow than mine and I'm leaning toward putting the 235s back on my car for winter. If you have stagger set and going all season I would stick with the stagger. Use the website I linked above to verify the rolling circumference is close

I have 19'' staggered set, the stock sport package wheels. I'd have to put some new all seasons on or get this square 19'' set for dedicated blizzaks. My wife also has a 2005 3.0i with Blizzaks and it's a beast in the snow!
