How to remove the wood grain CD door fold up cover

Hi all,

I am wanting to put in a new stereo in my 2002 X5 3.0 and have to remove the old stereo, cd player, and cd cover door. Anyone know of a DIY for the door cover? I removed the stereo and loosened the cd player to slide it out but it seemed really tight against the upper folding door so I waited on removing it. Is the way to remove the door hidden by the cd player?

Thanks

This is the best I could find that just shows removing the top unit.

If it's anything like the e39, you have to remove or loosen the lower dash on both sides, but I'm not sure.

It's easy. youmust remove MID and cd player first. Look for a small tab on each side. Use thin flat blade screw driver to prop open and pull door unit straight out
