Muffler question

I was thinking of just getting tips installed but saw these on eBay, anyone else seen this or tried it?

I don't think you really want a $20 muffler on a $60k car do you? I have never heard of anyone on this board installing one.

They are nice looking, but I find it hard believe the 10-15 HP increase claim.

That's because it would be impossible. Not going to happen. If it were that easy, BMW would have already done it.

only one way to see how good it is. hp increase is a joke, but they are good looking. you can always try it out, as $20 + shipping ain't too much money to throw away.

Wow...that is less than most tips alone! My guessed would be that it might just be a straight pipe and not much of a "muffler"...so it is going to be LOUD! I would say skip it...unless you want your X to sound like those Civics with a "can" muffler...you know, those that you can hear them a mile away, but could barely get off the line?

Pseto, it might not just be $20+ bucks that you're throwing away. You could also be losing some torque as well.

Re.the muffler on Ebay.
They seem to be good quality? But you wouldnt be able to fit in your X5 as they have a length of 23" and the max you can fit in place of the oem mufflers is 18"!Any longer than this and the muffler tips will be overly sticking out!In this case, some 5" would be added to the overall lenght of your X5!
