That does sound like exactly what happened to me. I instinctively knew it was a programming error when I rebooted the computer and it went back to normal. My thermostat did fail not too long after. In OP case I don't think it was -10C though as it hasn't gotten that cold yet unless he's in a cRazy cold climate.

So far the x5 temp issue haven’t happen again, maybe because of the warmer weather we been having lately (10C). Been trying to go through the hidden menu but I can’t get pass 1, it goes 1.0 to 1.7 and over again. Can’t get to 2 and up with the basic cluster???

You have to unlock cluster (item 19) before you can pick any actual option.

There is the service advice describing the exact condition you described and I also had happen. Below -10C and full heat. I think the computer freaks out because "it should be warmer in here by now". It's a computer bug and resets with a restart. It's rarely ever use full blast heat I might have used defrost the one time the computer freaked out on me.

To confirm the problem you need to use full heat when lower ambient than -10C.

How do I go to item 19 with the basic cluster???? It only goes to item 1 and then 1.1 to 1.7 and over again. I have no idea how to go to other items. Maybe I’m missing something here but can u list the procedure on how I do it ?

You are missing the first step it sounds like you are waiting too long to pick the item and you are stuck on 1.

Find a YouTube video to show the process. I have the basic cluster.

The process:

1 odo button pressed
2 key to position 1
3 release odo button
4 immediately start tapping odo button until you see 19 (if you overshoot keep going you can wrap around)
5 when 19 is picked it will show 19: off and 19: on.
5 when it says 19: off tap odometer button
6 now it will go back to 1:
7 tap odo button repeatedly until you get to the test desired. 6 is fuel 7 is voltage 9 I think is coolant temp

When you stop on 9 for example, after a second or two it will lock on to that mode. You can then tap repeatedly to get the sub-menus like 9.1 9.2 etc.

You can also now start the car. Don't put the key back to zero/off as that disables the system and you have to start over.

Got it thanks!! My problem was I was too slow pushing the button which would not go to other items every time. I’ll definitely try it when the temp screws up and see the temperature
