4x4 functioning in our x5's

So i replaced my actuator gear with a new ebay unit. the old one looks to be in too good shape to be bad. only 2 teeth barley deflected. my 4x4 light still on. i know my steering angle sensor needs cleaning or new,i have lock to lock several times. This reset only worked for awhile. On the functioning of the 4wd or Awd, is the steering angle sensor supposed to disenguage Awd on hard turns. even though i have a rough running x5 cuz of 2ndary leavers or eccentric shafts(i am looking for some one within 3 states that can set the min valve lift to .8 mm or whatever will fix this. i am sure it is a known quantity) i am getting used to this truck. kinda enjoyable. Anyway wheni turn hard from a stop and accelerate around a corner i can feel the front end shift a bit like a full time 4x4 on dry pavement. i am guessing this is not right(is the steering angle sensor not telling tcm to disenguage transfer case ). as i know this is not easy on the drivetrain and transfer case. i have not put many miles on it like this. or do other feel a slight sideshift back &forth when accelerating out of a hard turn. or is this normal?

The steering angle sensor and calibration is at the heart of how it works. So it needs to be right before bothering with anything else. It will set the light in a 2wd bmw (dsc which is like the 4wd light in the x5). Fix that or you will never get anything else straightened out even if something else is wrong.

As an example of the steering angle stuff my 2wd 323i will growl, grind and/or snatch the steering wheel accelerating when the steering angle is wrong. Not to mention setting the dsc light off.

Also (and I may be wrong) I think you mentioned something about not buying a tablet in another thread I read earlier. If that meant you have no real scan tools (inpa, pa soft or anything like that) your shooting yourself in the foot on bmw's.

The only way I can justify owning a bmw is because I own all kinds of software which I keep on a notebook computer to work on them with. Its either that or going to a shop that does have one (dealership or independent).

I know my pockets are no where deep enough to own an out of warranty bmw without those tools. If I suddenly lost all access to those tools all my bmw's would be for sale tomorrow.

The bmw tax as I like to call it is like my corvette's tax. They nail you when they see the logo. Diy or bust with bmw's in my opinion.

For some unknown reason i cannot get into ad msny of the modules with sss or gt1 Dis44 or Dis55 in the x5 e53 as i can in my e31, or my 2 e39 s62 cars or moms e39 540it. This frustrates me. And i have stepped back for as much as a year at times. Please asdist instead of try and sink me. I keep tryn and i am usually successful, currently on my plate is a guide job on moms car, a m62tu. Parts will be her friday. I am sure it will take me double the shop time. As headgaskets on a m70 took me a year between letting my back tecover and assesing differt isdues. Thanx agsin for any idea's . Have a good ThanxGiving.
