Has anyone bought pre-facelift Depos from Fishcake on ebay recently? Bi-xenon output

Guys, sadly enough my retrofitting future is not too bright, as the Spyder headlights that I completed for mam4.6's Estoril are backordered in both black and chrome versions, and I spoke to Spyder yesterday, they have no ETA for a new shipment.

I'd like to offer another retrofit solution and also complete a set for myself, so I am researching the popular Depo units. I know they have a clear lens and include a replica of the Valeo D2S/H7 projector found on Audi's from about 10 years ago, but their output is not the best (probably a new curved shield needed fabricating) when comparing to the factory pre-facelift Hella E39 low beam projector.

As well, you can buy the standard halogen equipped Depo's on ebay for $350, and the Depo standalone ring kit from fishcake321 for $180, so for $530 you'd have a halogen set which is ready to retrofit a xenon projector into.

I spoke with Sam/Lee (fishcake321 on Ebay) yesterday at length about the headlights he sells, which are the Depo versions, with the LED rings. He tells me that the version he sells now is actually a D2S bi-xenon unit, and showed me a video of it but on the E46 Depo's. There has not been any talk recently of Depo now offering a bi-xenon solution, so I want to know if anyone has bought headlights from him recently, and if they are in fact bi-xenon, can someone get me output shots against a wall at say 25 feet or so?

Would like to see what i'm working with here, if Depo has improved their projector optics/shield over the older version, etc.

Pic for clicks, these are the lights I'm speaking of:

Anyone who bought the Depos more than 8 months ago this shouldn't apply to, since I have not heard of a bixenon version of their lights before hearing it yesterday. I'm assuming this is a newer thing, if true.

Bumping this thread as I know quite a few users have these headlights.

I'd like to see photos against a wall at night, at least 20 feet away, and using OEM bulbs (not the 8k junk bulbs that come with the headlights)

Been seriously considering a set and I know I would have to retrofit with a better projector eventually, but want to see if I can live with the output for now as is.

TIA

You still at it Rick?Good luck with the project.I had to pospone my project for a bit as I have to work on my sons first bike

With regards to availability of those Depos,I found local Depo importers seem to only work with the OEM headlights and not the "performance" range. So,only place to get them is Ebay .Good luck

Over a year..Think mine is 11 months old!I dont feel so bad now with my project.
As well as the Depos ,I have also opened up and modded a few OE ,even the 2003.Let me know if you need any help
MY project on my Depos is much less complicated than yours ! I am quite happy with them (never had any problems in over 5 years ).Dont like that low beam spider but after listening to some peoples positive comments ,like yourself ,I think I leave them on,just black out the turn signal and thats it !

Do you have any output pics of the D2S projector Fernando, against a wall at say 20 feet? I'd like to compare to stock to see how the Depo projector fares.

Just open up your 2003 headlights. It really isn't hard at all. I've done so on E36 headlights before.

Want to purchase 4 items from fishcake321...

It seems like you have had really good luck with him RickyBobby....I sent an email with items to deal for discount outside of eBay as you suggested he might do. I haven’t heard from him in 24hrs since email went out and from what I have read since has me hesitating to even throw asking price out there by submitting to purchase right on eBay. Should I be scared off from lack of response and a SMALL % of bad experiences? Do you have any solid contact info for Lee/Simon/whatever? Feel free to send PM. THANKS!!!

Adam
