BMW Recall on PCV Valve Heater - Wish I Had One!
Turns out there is a PCV heater setup in the E70 and a bunch of other models - and 740,000 of them between 2007-2011 were recently recalled due to starting fires! I'm wondering if this setup can be retrofitted to the E53 (but obviously not the ones that are catching fire). Does anyone know how it works or if it would fit? ![]() ![]() http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Recal...Number=17V-683

The real problem is that there is too much moisture building up in the crankcase in the first place because of the CCCV system.

I fitted the cold weather dipstick in addition to the insulated CCV/hoses. There's no folded steel baffle in it to gunk up, which causes the blockage, which causes oil/water to get diverted back into the intake. I also change oil every 3500 miles in winter.
