BMW Recall on PCV Valve Heater - Wish I Had One!

I was just thinking about how it would be nice if there was some sort of heater set up to prevent the PCV system from freezing up. Even with the 'cold weather PCV kit', this continues to be an issue for me in cold temps. I was also wondering if this crappy design was also in the E70, since I will probably switch to an E70 next year.

Turns out there is a PCV heater setup in the E70 and a bunch of other models - and 740,000 of them between 2007-2011 were recently recalled due to starting fires!

I'm wondering if this setup can be retrofitted to the E53 (but obviously not the ones that are catching fire). Does anyone know how it works or if it would fit?
