PDC problem

Hi all, i have a parking sensor problem on my 2002 X5, my front parking sensors dont work. every sensor on the front "click" when pdc is on but i get no warning tone at all, the rear works fine with tone when getting close to objects. wondered if anyone had any ideas before it goes for diagnostic check.

many thanks
Steve

in my case what happens is:
when PDC is on, the long continuous beep is heard (like when you are already too close to the object) even though there is nothing around the car...
after a second or too the sound disappear, but the sensors are not working.

also, is the green led continuously on in your case or flashing green? mine is flashing and I know it should be on

Thanks for the reply, The led on the pdc switch is on constant, not flashing. I dont get a continuous beep when the system comes on, the rear parking sensors are working as they should, all 4 front sensors "click" when you put your ear to them when pdc is on but no warning beep when getteing close to an object.

I tried to hear this click myself, but cannot hear nothing...is it a very quiet click?

its quite audiable if you put your ear on each sensor, switch ignition on to position 2, press pdc button and put your ear on each sensor

If you hear the front sensors clicking and no LED flashing on the console, it might be the speaker for the Front PDC that's not working especially since the rear sensors work. Usually, if there's a fault anywhere front or back, the whole system will fail and give you a long beep with flashing LED on the button. I think the speaker for the front is located under the driver side dash near the OBD port. In the wiring diagram, it's called the H10 Gong. I would start there.

Get Navcoder and you can test each sensor individually. Then replaced just the busted ones.
