PDC issue? outer parking sensors rear & front not detecting

Morning and happy new year to all, got an issue whereby I was suspicious when not hearing an audible beep when reversing out the driveway today....

So put car in P opened the boot and passed my hand a few cm over the sensors at the rear (that I made sure were clean) only the 2 centre ones result it a beeping noise, the side sensors on the bumper dont.

I put my ear up against them too and the all make the characteristic clicking noise but does this mean they work? or could they click and not actually be working as seems to be my case

I suspect the front side sensors are not resulting in the audible beep either but was too noise at the time and had no help so couldnt get my ear close enough to cabin to listen for noise...

any ideas much appreciated

Update : parked, turned key to position 2 so was able to engage R, pressed the pdc button, ran round rear and the rear corner sensor that was not detecting is actually detecting but you have to get pretty darn close for the gong to be activated and ding heard ie under 10cm ...other side on rear is fine....the 'dud' sensor all clicks fine.....now wondering if it maybe a weakening battery causing this....all the sensors click fine.....

Not got round to the fronts yet

If you have a weak battery, then sort that first, then deal with any faults that still remain. These cars a re known to be fussy about battery condition and a weak battery will cause all sorts of odd "faults".

cheers for reply, You are probably right, I retested after keeping car on ctek overnite and sensors are good all round, x5 electrically fussy you are right-in the past I got injector failure come up once, dsc active suspension failure, clicks in the speakers when first starting up....all due to battery I am sure....
