Mike's "Easy" BMW Tools?

Friens

I bought This Package "Mike's Easy BMW Tools" including the correct cable and software + instructions from ebay.

It includes INPA EDIABAS and some other tools.

I wanted to run this on an old XP laptop that I have.

To give it the best shot at working I reformatted and re-installed, XP onto the Laptop and installed as per the instructions (to the letter checked and re-checked). The instructions insist that I use "only" COM1 for the serial cable port and that you set this up in Device Manager. Done!!!!

INPA does not see the car and protests that the post is not open?

  • Using the same laptop, COM 1 & cable with NavCoder, it sees that car and works perfectly.
  • Device Manager sees the cable when I connect or disconnect it.
  • The correct drivers are installed (as per the tools bundle).

If I install the same package from the same disc onto a WIndows 10 machine. It works?

The products is clearly sold as WinXP - WIn10 etc.

The cable is jumpered on pins 7 & 8 (I had to do this when I bought it)

Why does it work on WIn10 but not on XP?
