How does it hold up?

Mine are also showing signs of wear on driver and passenger pull handles. I just want to replace mine with either new OEM or aftermarket. Looking on fleaBay, the E70 has them for around $20 each but when you find one for an E53, boom, over $100 each. I also checked my dealer and they are also over $100 each.

That's what I found too, which is why I was looking for some kind of fix. I suppose i could check junk yards, but I'm thinking they're probably likely to have the same problem.

Thought the same thing exactly. I am watching this post hoping for a solution but it looks like it may come down to biting the bullet and buying new from the stealership.

Bought my X new; I think I had three sets of front grip handles replaced under warranty; then dealer goodwill. At some point they changed from a squishy rubber to a harder plastic. The original ones were awful, the later ones are better but still peel.

Yeah my 2004 has the harder plastic. I wish there was a Chinese manufacturer like the E70 handles on fleaBay.

My VWs did the same thing and I used Dawn Power Dissolver, which isn't made any more, but others have used oven cleaner and various things to strip off the rubber. My old Beetle wound up with bare plastic that looked fine.
