Xenon bulbs

What is the best way to replace the xenon bulbs? Whatever I have in there now is horrible and the driver side cuts off after 20 min. I found this on TIS but it seems the 3 bolts aren't enough to remove the whole bracket?

I use a right angle screwdriver adapter to access the screws by feel. Make very very sure nobody else can enter your car. The xenon can enegize with 25.000V if the turn signal stalk is bumped with power off!

If you need more room to work only four screws hold the entire headlight assembly in. It's a little futsy to get that trim piece out and in under the lights but not terrible.

You don't have to remove the bracket I referenced to access then with a right angle screwdriver?

Unfortunately you may have it harder it
sounds like you have V8 I have the six. There is a lot more room to work. That said, rather than remove all the stuff on top of the headlight I would definitely explore the option of the four screws that hold the entire light assembly in.

I've taken them out and in a few times it gets pretty easy. That said it looks like the normal process is to release the bracket that holds a couple fluid reservoir and flex them out of the way. At that point it should be simiakr to my situation with the airbox making the space very tight.

I'm used to working around corners so the right angle adapter worked great.

Ended up loosening up the driver headlight and pulling it out and got some new morimoto 5500k bulbs in but unfortunately the bulb still goes out on my driver side. Looks like I'll need a ballast...

Xenon bulbs

You should use left = port and right = starboard. 1/3 of the xo members are RHD. Are you one of those members? Don't have to wonder if you use left/right vs driver/pass.

Right is the side with the AC compressor e g the side of the CAR not YOU while facing the car backwards. Never got why that's confusing to people. My left arm is always my left arm even when you are facing me.

I think the ballasts are interchangeable so you can swap to confirm the problem is internal not a connection etc.

I gathered from the pic it looked like left just making sure.

Now that you probably put everything back together we can call that "practice". I would definitely swap ballasts. The bonus is, if it is the ballast is bad it'll be on the easier side if you do need to replace it.

(Iirc, you can pull off the airbox to get a ton of working room on the 8s). On the 6, airbox on the left

I am luck to have a Dinan air box so already plenty of room in the passenger (right) side. After the headlight went out 1 time it has not gone off since. Fingers crossed or the headlight comes off again...
