4.8 aftermarket chip/re-program

Have you guys heard of any aftermarket chips or any ECU reprogramming that can be done to a 4.8?

If I remember right Powerchip has a chip for the 4.8is.
If you are going to do other mods as well, save on the powerchip because it won't be tuned to take into account all the extra modifications you do.

But it is 960$ i find that a bit expensive. Even the dinan products are not that expensive.

Out of curiosity, how do you dyno an all-wheel-drive car like our X's?? The guys at Dinan cant dyno X's and use the figures from the 4.4/4.6's in other BMW's....I've heard 2 wheel chassis dynos make the DSC freak out when the front wheels arent in motion....do you have a 4-wheel chassis dyno near you??

Unless I missed something before, I found out that I could not disable the DSC 100% on my 2002 4.6is. The DSC button on the console does not deactivate the DSC completely. I tried various fuses but could not disable it. I have never had a big "car" up on a dyno before (and 4 wheel at that) and it was scary seeing the X5 "rock" on the rollers.

I, too, would like to see about chipping my 4.8 w/AFE intake and Eisenmann Race exhaust. Are there any dyno numbers on this chip yet (for $800 we should be able to see some change in numbers as well as SOTP)? Procedure for updating DME?

BTW, isn't holding down the DSC botton for 10 secs supposed to totally disable the AWD?
