Tensioner Pulley Mount

Hey Everyone,

So this weekend I had changed the alternator in my 2002 x5 3.0, went great and took the family out of town everything sounded fine and car drove perfectly. This morning I turned the car on and heard a loud whistle noise. I popped the hood and before I could open it, it sounded like something hit the fan ran and turned the car off opened the hood and found the belt in the fan and the tensioner pulley broken. Does anyone have an idea on what this mounts to? Or is it just like a pivot arm or something I need to get it back on? I checked google and the forums without any luck. Any help is greatly appreciated thanks!

- Post some photos of your problem.

- I happened to do some cooling overhaul, in the DIY I wrote, there is info on the belts and pulleys:

- You need a new oil filter housing. You might have tightened the bolt too much during the install. Look up the torque values.

- OFH is cheap at local junk yards, about $15.

- Ebay also sells them for $50. Use realoem.com to look for PN and search ebay for the correct part (early vs late: the difference is in the sensors mounting).

- Get new OFH gasket from BMW dealer ($6). Avoid aftermarket gasket.

- During install, take it easy, go with bolts #1-#6 sequentially. Then wait 5-10 min. before tightening them again to avoid leak later. I posted the tips and tricks in forums.

Thank you! This is exactly it! Found the correct part and number like you had said. Ordered everything now just need to play the waiting game until I can get my X back on the road. Thanks again!
