Lower oil pan gasket time 4.6is

Well my air bad has come in and I asked the dealer about an oil leak, figuring it was time for a warranty claim with the recent work the previous owner had them do. It turns out before he sold it to me the lower oil pan gasket started leaking before he sold it to me and he declined the have the dealer do the work. They want about 780.00 or so to do it, but it looks like it is not too bad to do it myself.

How they did not catch this leak when they removed the engine late last year is beyond me.

Pelican parts figures 5 hours. 30.00 in parts give or take and more experience for me.

Since you will be removing the reinforcement plate you will need to choose one camp or the other about whether on not to replace the nuts and bolts securing the plate. BMW recommends to do so. I do.

Recommend you purchase a genuine BMW pan gasket and be sure to torque pan and plate bolts to BMW specs.

Might as well do the transfer case fluid while I am at it. I am looking to see if there are any sensors that I might as well replace since the pan is going to be open.

I think it is because the m62 oil pan is two parts. Lower and upper. Mine is the lower, the upper is about 21 hours of labor DavidX5 did a diy on it recently. Total nightmare.

I'm ready to do the lower gasket on my 2004 4.4.
I've purchased new bolts, new gasket, new oil level sender
O-ring.
Can someone supply the bolt torque specs and any
problems they encountered.

The upper portion of the pan on the 4.6is is a bear. The lower one is a piece of cake. Mine was leaking because some idiot over tightened the bong and stripped the threads on previous ownership. So I replaced the pan when I did the timing cover, guides, chains service.
