First road trip on 4.6
About 300 mile one way. Vehicle did well. Mileage was lower than my 2004 with the 4.4. About 16.5 MPG highway average. I averaged 17.4 on the return trip. At a solid cruise speed of 75+ the RPM was near 3K. Running very healthy and strong. Very fun to drive and a pleasure to own and operate. If needed, kick down to pass another car was a non event.

16.5 mpg sounds about right with my 4.6is as well.
This engine is thirsty all the time. |

Bet it was blast! I must find one of those big V8s and go for a ride one day...
Just a short ride, mind you. Don't want engine envy - not at our fuel prices! Your road trip would have cost me NZ$350 - just for the gas!!
