Uh-Oh P0011 Spaghettios

Turned on the X5 today (2002 4.4 @130K) and this code popped up. No other symptoms than that. Less than 3 weeks ago I did the timing cover gasket and oil pan gasket and everything seemed solid no bits in the pan.. however, ever since then theres been a once in a while start up rattle where it had never done that before - but i also own a 540 so i'm used to that.

Anyways, out of curiosity, i checked the chain slack on my 540 through the oil fill cap and it was nice and solid, the X5 appears to have a tiny bit of play. I don't know if that makes any difference or not.

Errr, also to note, I was driving earlier this week and got a strange beeping noise from the cluster and "DSC inactive" warning came on and went away just as quick as it came on... possibly a power interruption or voltage issue?

Should I sell the thing before the guides completely go out or should I consider replacing the sensor? Maybe the wires got damaged or the sensor got dirty from the recent gasket job?

I am completely no help on this question. I came here to say that E39 on M parallels is absolutely superlative.

Maybe you disturbed a connector when doing the gaskets?

When working on motor vehicles start with there are no coincidences. So when you do work and after it is done the is an immediate problem you didn't have before you starrted---check your work and everything you disconnected or could have disturbed. Have you checked oil level as an example?

I did check the oil level, it was a half qt low, maybe more. I am going to obviously first drain the oil, check the oil pan, check the connections for the Vanos solenoids, re-inspect the chain tensioner and then fill it back up and check for results.

Guides are definitely out - just thought i'd update the group.

I plan on having the replaced by a forum member (from Bimmer Forums)

ouch.

if it makes you feel any better, my dad's 4.4 went out at <90k miles. he ended up swapping in a rebuilt engine (due to misdiagnosis), now we have a spare m62 engine (that needs new guides)
