Looking at another X5, two questions...

I joined this forum back in 2015 with my previous E53. I ended up getting rid of that one, but now I'm looking at replacing it (they're like a drug that you can't stop!). The dealer I frequent has an '01 4.4i and I have a couple of questions before I get it.

First, don't all X5's have folding mirrors? This model has everything, including Nav and even a cassette changer (I didn't know those were a thing??), but there is no button on the door to fold the mirrors. I'm guessing at some point the pad was replaced and they didn't get the right pad?

Second, it's high mileage and I understand that. My wife and family are driving it and everything feels really good. Engine is fine, transmission is fine, but there is a kind of "hollow" knock on the drivers side that you need to be close to the valve cover to hear. It doesn't sound like a knock, but aside from my horrible description is there something over there that would make a knock sound? My FIL described it as sounding like a diesel. My wife is going to get me a video of the sound and I can get that posted to help.

There are no codes being thrown, no lights, no noise from the timing chain guide.
