Advice Needed: A Selling Price For A Modded E53

Hello there fellow enthusiasts,

I think I might at the end of the road with my E53 sadly. I am a disabled veteran and it has become increasingly difficult to care for this truck the way it should, and I refuse to let it deteriorate.

It requires a high level of maintenance that I have been able to keep up with until recently. Enough of my sad story I’ll be fine, lol.

Some quick details before I start. The supercharger kit is the only one RMS produced, and the last time we spoke on the phone they said production had ceased. Also, the DSSR is the only one UUC produced. I’m not sure if production is still available, however this unit was produced at my request.

This E53 is truly one of a kind.

Ok, here we go,

2002 E53 3.0i 5 Speed Manual, 96,247 miles

21X10, 21X11.5, style 128 oem wheels (not replicas)

RMS supercharger kit with Vortech V3 blower, 10lbs boost

Aquamist HFS3 50/50 setup

UUC 8.5lb flywheel, UUC M5 Kevlar clutch

UUC short shifter, UUC dual sheer selector rod, CDV delete

H&R sport springs, bilstein shocks

Suspension bushings front and rear replaced

Vanos upgrade kit

New rod bearings

Custom exhaust with x-pipe

Coil pack upgrade from Bremi to Bosch, colder plugs

Bosch O2 sensors

Water pump, fuel filter, fluids, etc

Roof rack delete

When the clutch was installed the transmission had work done to it as well, and all of the parts associated with the drive were replaced. Bearings, guibos, etc.

The paint is not faded and is still glossy, but has nicks and a couple of dings. The lights are crystal clear.

The seats are amongst some of the best condition I’ve seen, and the dashboard is clean. Some interior parts show wear, but for 17 years young I think it’s to be expected.

Overall, I would rate the appearance 8/10. Garage queen would be overstated, but definitely not an eyesore.

Drivability is amazing! To be able to maneuver a 6000lb vehicle the way she does is indescribable. 5th gear is awesome, there is absolutely no reason to down shift on the freeway. It’s very easy to make a pass and then some. Anyone who has ever driven a manual E53 knows 1st gear hits redline in the blink of an eye. The 8.5lb flywheel takes the experience to a new level and the short shifter and DSSR help with getting into second gear a lot easier, and delivers a decent 0 to 60 something the M54 in my opinion struggles with naturally aspirated.

I have all the invoices for the items and work listed above. It’s tough to let her go but I can’t see her just sitting anymore. I would appreciate any advice as to a selling price point for my E53.

Thank you.

Being pre-lci 3.0 will hurt it a little. Low mileage and 5spd will help it greatly. The supercharger is the icing on the cake. Need to see pics of it, but this sounds like it might be a good candidate for bring a trailer. In the regular market you'd be hard pressed to get $6000 for it. In the enthusiast market probably closer to $10000. But again need to see pics for color combination and condition.

Sounds like a really cool X5. Good luck with it.

Sounds really nice. GLWS. Any rust? I agree, Bring a trailer would be a good option.

No Rust, snow, mud, and if I didn’t have to take it out in the rain would be no rain either. LoL

Don't worry CW, I'll ask him....

So do have an aero kit that you'd throw in?

Did someone say aero kit? If it's got that you can add another $5000 easily.

Per OP's other posts, car is titan Silver with shadowline trim and either a black or gray interior- can't tell for sure. I prefer a back interior - I think it ages better - but that's only my opinion.

I second the vote for a BAT sale.

The fact that the SC was installed years ago and is presumably well sorted is a plus.

That fact that it is a 5-speed and not a 6-speed ('04 and later? ) is a modest negative. Still it's probably worth more than an automatic.

It might fetch $10k on BAT before fees...
