2003 Rear upper trim removal
I've not found any videos or DIY on the upper/rear-most trim around the ...rear-most window; (by the back of the X5). Realoem has it listed as this part number: 51368257709 - https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/par...&q=51368257709 Any recommendations on how to remove the bad one so I can put on the new one? Thanks, Jay |

51 36 035 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING TRIM ON SIDE WINDOW AT TOP REAR
LEFT OR RIGHT Special Tools Required 00 9 316 00 9 317 Installation: Carefully lever out trim ➀ with special tool 00 9 317. Fit trim ➀, raise sealing lip ➁ with special tool 00 9 316 and at same time snap trim ➀ into place. special tool xx316 appears to be a plastic trim tool. xx317 seems to be a small flat blade 'awl' (think screw driver but doesn't get wider; a small enough screw driver should work. The picture is terrible of the holding clip but there are a BUNCH of clips that look like they clip straight in to the car, it looks like it pulls straight away and pushes straight toward, the trick being to install the new one, you need to pull the rubber seal out of the way as you do each clip.

Excellent post ! Mine always tends to come out loose when I use the PW. Figured the retention tab on the plastic was just fatigued and I needed to reseat the trim. Going to try the nip-tuck per the last post

I would have nothing against using a squirt of windshield adhesive to replace a couple broken tabs. You can razor it out if you ever need to replace it.

I've never pulled it out to see how it's held. I presumed it was plastic tabs on the trim that clipped it. It came loose one day when I hit it on the right angle with the pressure washer. Every once in awhile it comes ajaw when I pressure wash the car....and I just press it back it. I suppose it needs that rubber outlined in the post pulled so it can properly seat
