Tekonsha install success. One remaining question
After about two days in the garage, I was able to get my new Tekonsha P3 installed and working. I'm super happy with the results.
I spent most of that time tearing the interior apart and running wires through the carpet. My car has an LCM IV, so the X393 connector did not have any spare pins. I was able to find one pin that gave me a brake signal though. One question I have, do people use power for the brake controller from the constant 12v lug in the engine bay? I would have thought that switched power would be the right thing to do, but I'm having trouble finding a circuit with adequate amperage. Also most of the write-ups I've seen just use the lug in the engine bay, which is easy to get to. The Tekonsha unit appears to time out and shut off after 15 mins without use, so I suppose that takes care of itself. Any pointers at a proper 12v switched circuit would be appreciated, either front or rear (I still don't have 12v aux power to my trailer since I can't find switched power and don't want it on all the time). Thanks in advance, and thanks to everyone who posted about this project in the past!
