Blower Motor or Sampler Fan?

Hi guys, bought an 02 x5 a few weeks back and have been having problems with the aircon/heater fans making a noise. Its got worse since the day I got it.

Heres a link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kHFKRuMuC8

I've been googling around and I'm thinking it might be the blower motor? hoping not as its a huge job so thought I'd ask for some advice first.. any help would be hugely appreciated! If theres any way I can test which of the 2 this may be would help.

Thanks in advance!

Well...you can at least discount the sampling fan. It is located behind the left grid in the IHKA control panel and only has one speed. So increasing/decreasing the IHKA's fan speed button wouldn't increase/decrease the noise...as well as the noise/sound wouldn't be coming from the dash vents when you put the microphone up to it.

{this is the little sample fan inside the IHKA...pics are from a DIY from BimBoard e38 forum}

Thanks for the reply!
so looking like the blower motor? I think I'm going to try the lube trick iv seen posted on here, just struggling to find a long straw for my silicone spray at the moment.

Iv been trying to find some videos of people with a similar problem but I havnt heard any that are anywhere near as bad as mine! It's strange as it just seemed to appear from nowhere. No build up just fine and then this starts!

Definitely the blower motor. Were that mine I would figure out the best place to drill a small oil maintenance hole to lubricate.

Ye I might try that actually! Iv got an endoscope coming for my phone in the next few days so I'll have a look around with that and see where I can get to it.

That's a good idea. I bought the depstech model amd though the interface is very rough around the edges it works pretty well
