One of these things is not like the other...

So I had to get a replacement rim due to a crack on the inside of the rim from a pothole from hell. I was happy to find a matching rim in good condition and after getting home and mounting my tire, I noticed a slight problem...

Facepalm so hard my prints are behind my eyes.

1st photo is original rim.

2nd is the replacement.

Don't feel bad. It happens to lots of folks .. especially at the tire shop.

The last MR2 I had (the 2nd.gen cars have staggered wheels and tires), the tire shop guy had put the big tires on the back correctly, but the two wide rims were both on the right. Looked perfectly normal since you could only see one side at a time.

Yeah, wow, that is bad. Very obvious too, of course, to the knowledgeable and observant readers of this forum.

But just in case somebody does not see the obvious problem, it might be good to point it out. I'd do it myself, but I'm just a little too busy to do it. Not that I can't tell anything wrong, not at all. OK gotta go now. Busy with stuff, so I can't post the answer. But someone else should do it. Bye. Or people will keep wondering and looking for stuff like it's Where's Waldo. Just sayin'.

LoL

Well I guess it couldn't hurt to say that I ended up with my new replacement rim being a front wheel on the right rear....

Still facepalming

I had an E34 Touring with M5 Throwing stars wheels on it. Took it to have the tires replaced. When they brought the car to me, I looked at the installation and told them they had two of the wheels on backward. They told me the tire are directional and the installer installed them correctly. I told them to look at the throwing stars and the direction they would be turning. They said that they could just flip the wheels around so that the throwing stars will be turning in the right direction. I asked about the directional tires will they be turning in the right direction? At that point, he called his installer and told him what the problem was. They had to unmount them and remount and balance them.
