My 1st post - advice please

Hi Guys

I realise my 1st question may be more aimed at the UK members as it's a diesel but any advice / comments by all will be much appreciated.

This is my 1st post on this site, although i frequently visit this site for the invaluable amount of tech tips & general guidance on almost every dilemma / problem which brings me to my questions.

I recently purchased an 03 3.0D & my 1st mod was to swap the alloys for the 132's, major upgrade on appearance in my humble opinion & a stonking bargain off ebay (£600.00 with as new tyres)

My next mod is more of a dilemma, i want to add rear tail pipes, there seems to be 3 main contenders in the UK, the Remus, the Milltek & a company called Blueflame (is it possible to add an ovel from a 4.4, 4.6, 4.8 UK model) can i have some honest feedback please on which to go for, price is not so much of an issue as they are all similarly priced, i don't really want one that's too loud (as my wife would go nuts) but naturally i want to notice something other than just them just looking good

My next mod involves adding Angel eyes, i understand that with the 03 model i can't open the lights up to add them so which is the best solution, buy older lenses & do the mod or is it possible to buy OEM lenses already installed, taking into account though i may well want to add Xenons / upgrade to HID?

Thanks guys in advance & what a fantastic informative site, hopefully the UK site will pick up soon & be as enthusiastic as here

gday,
welcome braddie.
try and go to your local exhaust shop to see if they can fit a straight thru mufflers, normally they can customise the tips to whatever you like as for the sound, diesels aren't generally that noisy w/ aftermarket systems. if u want some power w/ your stock exhaust, u should try www.dpchip.com
they will give you some decent power gains. from 135KW 470NM to 157KW 516NM!
as for newer diesel engines(04-above) 150KW 480NM to 180KW 525NM!

as for the hid kit, i'm still workin' on mine. im having a few issues with finding the right signal to activate the main lights....will keep u posted.

600 quid?! I just dropped 1300 for a set!! Of course its the best looking wheel ever made, so no biggie...

By the way, where are you located? There's a few places around London and B'ham that do Angel Eye installations for pre-facelift models for very reasonable prices...I think one is bmwstyle.co.uk, but Ill make sure and get back to ya'...

Oh yeah, :welcome:

Hi Scottie

Thanks for that, why did you choose Remus on yours over the Milltek?

well i know Milltek from being a Mini person obvioulsy and a lot of guys have them fiitted and most are more than happy but for me it was difficult to get anyone local to fit and I could never get anywhere with milltek themselves.

So when I realised that Drivers a local company to me could supply and fit the remus and they have fitted a few to X without any problems I went for this option as it was easier than running up and down the UK to get something fitted. Got to say I am more than happy with the way it sticks out my areo kit. Got a wee bit more of a gruff sound but it's a diesel so your not going to notice much of a difference. Also notice a tiny bit better performance but it's getting superchipped this Tuesday so hope notice a big change then.
