No more diesels for North America

I know this has been posted before:

Is that this the beginning of the end for diesel private vehicles??

Other manufactures are also calling it quits on diesel vehicles...

After the stink (excuse the pun) kicked up about compression ignition engines and the fudging of test figures by vehicle manufacturers and the ever increasing requirements of already stringent emission regulations it is doubtful diesels will survive in any of the western countries.
Without the large markets they presented there is no way the manufacturers can afford to keep making these engines and will most likely pursue other technologies in their stead.

My bet is they will pursue electric cars since China is about to phase out the internal combustion engine.

Could be, could be. The euros are big on electric cars. One recent article in a UK newspaper calculated that if every vehicle on their roads were electric powered and everyone decided to charge as soon as they got home from work it would collapse their electric grid. So there are some expensive upgrades required to support that line of thought. I think the old internal combustion engine will be hard to replace any time soon.
