Electronic module on fan shroud - 3.0i

As per subject line, there's an electronic module attached to the fan shroud that has a ~5-6 pin wiring harness connector. The harness is tied to the power connection for the front-mounted pusher fan. Anybody know what this module does? I tried to find it on RealOEM but came up empty.

That sounds like the "stink sensor"(AUC sensor) but I don't remember it having 5 or 6 pins.

AUC sensor is about 2" square and snaps into a cavity on the right/starboard side of the fan shroud

Yep - sounds like the AUC (module B414)...



The connector - X3211 - is a 4-pin.

Thanks for the info. FWIW, I've never noticed any BMW I've owned do anything like automatically switch to recirc when encountering the stench of diesel exhaust though.

You have to have the system on (green light on button). Mine seems to work I never notice traffic exhaust smell.
