All this talk about junk in the trunk
My 2019 resolutions is to not put any more PM parts but I swear, my ju-ju is telling me I should at least keep a coil pack on hand. At 145K and I'm on original except for maybe 2. What camp do you fall in for coils. I've treated these as fail or no fail.

A bad coil won't leave you stranded. Anyway, I think the failure rate has been greatly exaggerated because of a bad batch a long time ago and maybe cheap knock-offs since then.

Through almost 20 BMW's... Never carried spare coils. Or spare anything for that matter. I suppose carrying one couldn't hurt though as they don't take up a lot of room.

I never really bothered carrying spare parts around with me normally. The E70 has a new water pump in the back since I bought it but that's because I haven't got it installed yet.
At the same time I don't get that far from home that much.

Only work tools in the trunk. And only my super basic kit at that. Otherwise clean trunk.
