Painted Key Hole

Wow $75 plus shipping for painted plastic.
Painted Key Hole

Does anyone remember the porsche key hole option for the X5, found on roadfly awhile back?

Or I might just do the one listed here

Sounds like a rip-off, when the same part primed is $11.36. They do not have my color anyway.

Yes, I was the porsche bumper plug guy. it was like 13 bucks, already painted and shipped. http://bimmer.roadfly.org/bmw/forums/e53/1482326-1.html
I've since moved on to the $75 bimmian mod. i knew going in that it was cheap if you bought it from a dealer primed. but, i got some quotes on painting it and it was just about a push. so, i saved myself the trouble of going to get it painted, swalled my pride and let bimmian take my money.
anyway, the bumper plug mod is a nice little one. you just have take a razor blade and shave down the prongs that fit into the door lock. both sides. it won't stop a determined thief but it might confuse a lazy one. which was good enough for me.
i've included a crappy night time pic of how it looked. definitely worth the money.

Thanks x5Monkey for the info. Yeah it wont deter the real theives but its just another level of complexity for the average joe. So the closest color match for BMW X5 Titanium Silver is Porsche's Arctic Silver? Their chart doesn't even have Titanium silver so I thought I'll double check with you again. Thanks, placing order.

Titanium Silver Metallic for BMW

They have that option listed now as one of the color choices. I give that a shot and see how it looks. I'll try to post pic when I get it.

The key hole plug arrived

The painted key hole plug arrived in less than a week of placing the order.
The plug will have to be shaved down about 1/8 of an inch on each side to fit snugly. You can compare the before and after pictures of the shaved plastic. Use any type of razor blade to trim the plastic down, I used an exato knife for better control. Do not shave off too much as you want trim to fit snug. The painted plug matched perfectly, as they have the Titanium Silver for BMW in stock. Total was $17.95, shipped to my door. Nice simple mod to kill 15mins.

Thanks to x5Monkey for providing the info and link. Enjoy
