I have a x5 e53 2002 184 hp 3.0 D and i have an issue with air directions, if I select up (windshield ) air will blow on front vents ( center ) and if i chose floor vents no air at all and if i chose all 3 positions up center down, it blow a little bit on floor and rear vents. Could you please give me an idea what should i check ? Thanks |

Either way, the air is directed/controlled by flap valves in the ducting. These flaps are usually moved via motors and Bowden cables, so there's a few possible failure points there...

Each flap actuator has a specific operation...and they can't be moved to other positions. If they do...then what you explained usually happens. If you put the defrost vent stepper motor (actuator) where the face vent stepper motor goes...then when the IHKA control panel sends the command for the defrost vent to open...the face vent stepper motor will respond because each stepper motor responds to its specific command regardless of where you've installed it. Install it in the wrong place, then the wrong flap will open. Could this have happened? Has work been done on the HVAC system where the stepper motor/actuators could have been removed, then replaced in the wrong position? Here's some info from the TIS website that explains the aforementioned specificity of each stepper motor: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...-motor/XBgyciJ
