Persistant "Check Side Lights" error

I have a constant error on the dash for the side lights. I have replaced both bulbs with the correct incandescent bulbs. Both sides work properly, but I still have the error. I have an NT510 and have cleared everything but this immediately comes back. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Ah ha.... I put new high output LEDs in the Halos. I should have known. I didn't realize they were on the sidelight circuit. I guess I'll just have to live with it because the halos look good. I could install resistors I suppose, or get lights that don't trip the indicator...

One a different topic.... I owe you a beer or three. You have been a tremendous help to this X5 nimrod. We are not so far apart that that will never happen either! I travel to NC now and then, I may look you up and buy those beers!

Anytime Cal, we are family here. We are always glad to help. I bought mine years ago and forgot which set I bought but they were error free with a resistor box inline on the wiring. You will be able to code the cold and hot check out of those when you get BMW Scanner 1.4 up and running. You are seeing the hot check warning. You will notice when you first turn on the ignition, the LED halos will flicker for few seconds. This is the cold check. I had to disable cold check on mine but with the resistor, I have no hot check error. It is the same with any LED retrofit you do on the X.

Most of those led halo light upgrades have crappy harnesses. I had to use tiny zip ties to keep them together. I still get error codes occasionally and have to bump the headlight to jiggle them a bit.

The only problem I have with my LED halo bulbs is they will overheat sitting for an hour with headlights on and no air moving across the headlight assembly.

Last year I did the speedway Christmas lights tour here at the Charlotte Motor Speedway that took several hours and going 0-3 MPH. Got the check sidelights hot check error and noticed they had shut off. Turned the lights off for 10 minutes and they were fine again.

Happened again last week when I was stuck on the I95 for an hour for an overturned tractor trailer accident. Once I got going again, no issue at all. It has only these 2 times in the 5 years I've had them.
