Weird self level issue
I have just done a two axle calibration on my e53 the front is fine but the back is sitting low, I am using a snap on unit to calibrate. Any help would be appreciated as to why the back does not lift as I need my car for work in the morning Thanks |

Check the voltage of the level sensors individually. I had low voltage on a single rear and could not level either side. Swapped out a new(used but working) level sensor and all was fine afterwards. Just my experience.

What snap on unit are you using?
If you've done work on the system or there is a fault stored in the EHC then the calibration won't usually work without a reset of the module.

The EHC has no faults showing, it’s clear. Did have susp inactive but cleared that, it’s not the same as using BMW software for setting the height, you have to put the figure in.
Thanks |

If the suspension dropped or disabled what was the original problem and was that resolved?
I'm betting that you had a bad Decatur or leaky bag, and you can't calibrate

The original problem was suspension inactive fault, but my friend cleared that yet the back was low after he tried to recalibrate the height, something has gone wrong on the calibration.
I took it out a BMW independent specialist this morning, he has done a recalibrate but it’s still the same. He said to check front wiring and if not that the RH sensors. Wiring is good and sensors look ok, but it’s the back that will not rise, which makes me think it might be the EHC unit but don’t want to spend £400 if it’s not |

Suspension inactive is the symptom not the fault. Whatever caused the fault must be remedied before clearing the fault does any good.
"Looks good" doesn't help with a sensor. Read active live voltage of all sensors. If one is not functioning properly you should see one with voltage range that doesn't fit in with the rest. If one didn't read at all you'd get an error but if it just reads high or low, it just won't get to a value it's happy with to be able to calibrate.

Understood, where do I measure the voltage on the sensors?

I believe you can read them in the sub menu on your Foxwell under real time/live data.
