Help Needed and Hello
I have purchased a new booster and a new abs module "will be in in a couple days" "figure this was why it was cheap" My question is, will I need to code the abs module "exact same part number" and will I need to activate the abs to bleed? I am stuck for cash as this has already chewed up more then anticipated and I see the Inap software may be able to activate abs, but finding it for the E53 seems fruitless, could anyone point me in a clear direction on this. Oh and thank you for having me here. |

You could have had you old ABS module rebuilt by these guys:
BBA Remanufacturing Inc 300 Myles Standish Blvd Taunton, MA 02780 United States 1 508 822 4490 Fax 1 508 822 4491 [email protected] Home (GB) | BBA Reman That would not require a re-coding (VIN ID). If you use a new or a used one, you will need to code the unit to your VIN. The FOXWELL unit or any of the PC based software will do it also with a few exceptions.

INPA from my understanding will bleed ABS and quite possible code abs module. Do you have abs/brake/DSC light combination on? If you don't, the abs module is not defective.

I believe a new or used replacement will require programming of the VIN and steering sensor recalibration. Bleeding the ABS module will help but not absolutely necessary. You should be able to manually bleed the system and get all the air to pass through the module.

Ok just bought, foxwell nt510, right now I get some fluid at my rears "but very little" a bit more on the front "Have not gotten any air" . This has new brake lines through out, just can not figure out why just the brake light and a brick hard pedal. My current code scanner came back with dcs failure "but abs light stays off". I know the boosters bad as that part hasn't changed in 50 yrs, so I am pretty familiar with that aspect. .. I am running out of options other then the abs module

There was a recent thread with the same symptom and it was either the booster or the master. Do your brakes engage when the pedal firms up?

Only if air didn't get into the abs block can you get away without bleeding the block. (Unless you opened the front lines it's quite likely you won't need to bleed the abs) I replaced my lines and by making sure my reservoir never emptied I did not have to bleed the abs module. The nt510 will do the task if needed though

Someone else put a new master cylinder on it "and you can tell it was a bubba job". My new booster comes with a master cylinder, so I will replace it all. I made a mistake when getting this, just hopping I am not digging a deeper hole.

Yea I think this was more of a slam your head against the wall one. I got home tonight and started pulling the master cylinder to take the vacuum booster out. After getting the cylinder out I noticed the center the bar rides in crushed over and a distinctive circle on the side and c-plip bent in. Yep the would explain the rock hard pedal and little fluid"my boy could of pushed his little heart out n got no where". The only thing I am thankful for was this was the only work this guy did before he gave up and handed it to me. Thanks for everything guys.
