I believe the rings are part of the wheel bearings. They are not on the output shafts. You need to replace the bearing. Unless you have gotten debris in the space which damaged the ring, cleaning them is the first thing, unless the bearing is bad. Pain to get to though.

They are for certain imbedded in the bearing. They can get enough rust on them to throw off the sensor.
If the bearing isn't bad I would try to clean it first (q-tip through sensor hole)

You can find replacements for 3-series and E83's on ebay, but I didn't see any listed for E53's.

So abs is part of the bearing?
I'm looking at cv axles (half shaft) at they have mentions such as "does not include abs ring"? So it's a big confusing. Does it matter if I buy cv axle with or without the ring? |

On E53 the reluctor rings are on the bearings. On some other models reluctor ring is on the drive shaft so probably that statement for with/without ABS ring is mentioned on every drive shaft on their data base.
