rear wheel arch extension replacement

On my new-to-me 2005 4.8is the wheel arch extension/lip on the right rear is missing; it was stolen in a hospital car park. The seller of the car was kind enough to provide the replacement part which isn't just the extension that clips in but the entire flare (#5 at bmwfans) and 10 of the BMW plastic rivets.

It looks like I need to remove the lower cover of the running board to get at the front mounting points? I've seen the running board thread but am loath to download the instructions as registration with a credit card is required to get a "free" download. Any help would be gratefully received.
